The FCCJ welcomes new members in several categories as described below. All new members must be sponsored by two members in good standing.

We invite you to come to the Club to see our facilities, pick up an application and meet the members. However, for your convenience applications are linked at the bottom of this page. Completed applications are referred to the Membership Committee for review, then recommended to the Board of Directors for acceptance. Applicants are notified as soon as the decision is made.

REGULAR MEMBERSHIP is open to all correspondents--foreign or Japanese--who work for foreign-based media organizations. Journalists employed by domestic news organizations who have had extensive experience working as foreign correspondents outside Japan may also qualify.

The signatures of two sponsors who are Regular Members in good standing are required with your application as well as proof of employment as a foreign correspondent.

PROFESSIONAL/JOURNALIST ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP is open to correspondents--foreign or Japanese--who work for Japan-based media organizations.

The signatures of two sponsors who are Regular Members in good standing are required with your application as well as proof of employment as a correspondent.

Initiation fee: 37,500 yen
Monthly dues: 11,000 yen
Deposit: 40,000 yen
Monthly subscription fee: 400 yen

YOUNG JOURNALIST MEMBERSHIP is open to correspondents under 35 who qualify for Regular membership or Professional/Journalist Associate membership.

Initiation fee: 2,000 yen
Monthly dues: 4,000 yen
Deposit: 20,000 yen
Monthly subscription fee: 400 yen

EX-KANTO JOURNALIST MEMBERSHIP is open to correspondents outside Tokyo-to and its adjacent prefectures who qualify for Regular membership or Professional/Journalist Associate membership.

Initiation fee: 2,000 yen
Monthly dues: 4,000 yen
Deposit: 30,000 yen
Monthly subscription fee: 400 yen

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP is open to all members of the business, banking, diplomatic and professional communities.

Monthly dues: 15,500 yen
Deposit: 40,000 yen
Monthly subscription fee: 400 yen

FIVE-YEAR ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP is open to all non-permanent residents who are members of the business, banking, diplomatic and professional communities.

The signatures of two sponsors who are Regular, Professional/Journalist Associate, or Associate Members in good standing are required with your application.

Initiation fee: 100,000 yen
Monthly dues: 15,500 yen
Deposit: 40,000 yen
Monthly subscription fee: 400 yen
Extension Fee: 200,000 yen (required to extend membership beyond 5 years.)

DIPLOMATIC ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP is available to diplomatic visa holders only.

YOUNG ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP is available to members of the business, banking, diplomatic and professional communities who are under 35 years old.

Monthly dues: 11,600 yen
Deposit: 40,000 yen
Monthly subscription fee: 400 yen

EX-KANTO ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP is available to members of the business, banking, diplomatic and professional communities outside Tokyo-to and its adjacent prefectures.

The signatures of two sponsors who are Regular, Professional/Journalist Associate, or Associate Members in good standing are required with your application.

Initiation fee: 50,000 yen
Monthly dues: 11,000 yen
Deposit: 30,000 yen
Monthly subscription fee: 400 yen

GUEST MEMBERSHIP is available to journalists visiting Japan for less than 90 days. Guest Membership is free for the first 30 days. After the initial 30 days, Guests can renew their temporary membership for two further 30-day periods, subject to payment of monthly dues each time.

Guest members must supply provide documentation that establishes credentials.

PAYMENT DETAILS Members may pay club fees through the FCCJ's Direct Debit Service, by furikomi or in person at the Club office. The deposit is refundable on leaving and is used to cover expenses you incur between billings.
