Foreigners In Japanese Immigration Custody Face Severe Problems

It is common to hear of foreigners in Japanese immigration and police custody facing severe problems, such as forced deportation, without the legal opportunity to fight their cases in the courts. Amjad Iqbal Janjuaa recently visited the Tokyo Immigration Detention Center in Shinagawa, Tokyo, where some Muslim detainees told him that the immigration department repeatedly fed them "pork meals," causing them deep stress, as eating pork is forbidden by their religion.

Janjuaa will speak about these human rights violations by the immigration department in Japan. He believes Hindus may be facing similar problems, or vegetarians may be forced to eat non- vegetarian meals.
