Description:

Set on a Native American reservation straddling the US-Canadian border,
Frozen River is a thriller about two single mothers - one white, one
Mohawk - whose desperate circumstances force them into the world of human
trafficking along America's "other" border. Ray (Melissa Leo of 21 Grams,
The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada) and Lila (Misty Upham of Edge
of America, DreamKeeper) swear each smuggling trip across the frozen
St. Lawrence River will be their last, but one final run tests their
loyalty - and their very survival. Said Quentin Tarantino, who handed
out the film's Sundance prize: "[It] put my heart in a vise and
proceeded to=E3=80=80twist that vise until the last frame."

Winner of the Dramatic Grand Jury Prize at the 2008 Sundance Film
Festival=E3=80=80and Opening Night Selection at the 2008 New
Directors/New Films festival.
