Description:Egypt has long been a regional power and instrumental in events in the Middle East. With the current instability in Iraq and the Palestinian territories, along with the rising tensions over the Iranian nuclear program, the role of Egypt of can't be ignored.
The prospect of war or peace in the region is a global concern and to know more about these prospects, the Middle East situation, disarmament and Egypt-Japan relations we have invited Egyptian Ambassador Dr. Walid Mahmoud Abdelnasser to speak at the Club.
Appointed ambassador to Japan in September of last year, Abdelnasser previously served as chief of cabinet of the Egyptian minister of foreign affairs and as the deputy chief of mission at the embassy in Washington. Holding a B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science, he is a prolific author - in Arabic, English and French - on such topics as Middle Eastern politics, religion and politics, political economy, international relations and dialogue among civilizations.
