Description:The annual meeting of the 80-member International Whaling Commission (IWC) which was held in Chile finished last Friday without an agreement being reached on ending whale hunting.
Joji Morishita will brief members on the outcome of the meeting and the outlook for the IWC from the Japanese perspective. Japan confirmed its intention to continue its scientific killing of whales amid recent allegations of more whales being killed than declared, plus a meat smuggling operation, which involved a government sponsored whaling program. Don't miss this timely event.

Morishita's career with the Japanese Fisheries Agency stretches back to 1982, unbroken apart from a three year hiatus when he served as Fisheries Attache at the embassy of Japan in Washington.
