Recent government economic data suggest that Japan's longest post-war economic expansion may have come to an end. With soaring oil and commodity prices and raw material costs putting pressure on all industries, and the uncertainty over the U.S. economy dragging down exporters, the world's second-biggest economy is facing major challenges. As the head of most influential business lobby group, Nippon Keidanren, Fujio Mitarai will give us an overview of where he sees Japan's economy and prospects for the future.

Mitarai, who is also Chairman & CEO of electronics giant Canon Inc., will also discuss how the recent focus on environmental issues is affecting major corporations, Keidanren's views on proposed Japanese tax reform, and issues regarding bilateral and multilateral trade relations.
