"Jane",
Rape Victim, Having Found Assailant, Seeks U.S. Justice

Language:

The speech and Q & A will be in English and Japanese with English interpretation.

Description:

After more than six years, Jane finally found the U.S. military serviceman she accused of raping her in April, 2002. On Friday, July 25, she will visit the American Embassy in Tokyo to submit the Tokyo District Civil Court decision upholding her allegation and the court's order that the man pay her compensation.

According to Jane and her legal counsel, the U.S. military was fully aware that the man had a civil case pending against him in Japan, but he was discharged and was allowed to flee Japan. Jane will argue at her press conference that the U.S. serviceman and his employer did not abide by the laws of Japan.

Jane will be joined by Hisako Motoyama, director of the Asia Japan Women’s Resource Center, and Seiji Yoshida, director of the Tokyo Office for Victims of U.S. Military Crimes.
