FCCJ Study Tour to the Seikado Bunko Art Museum

Time: 2008 Nov 09 10:00 - 12:30
Description:

Have you ever studied the Iwasaki family's unique collection of antique Japanese and Asian art?

This is a rare opportunity for FCCJ members to make a private visit to the Seikado Bunko Art Museum in Okamoto, Setagaya, which was founded by Baron Yanosuke Iwasaki (1851-1908), Mitsubishi's second president and younger brother of its founder, Yataro Iwasaki.

Yanosuke and his heir, Baron Koyata Iwasaki, the fourth president of Mitsubishi, expanded their collection of Japanese and Chinese art works including tea-ceremony utensils, paintings, pottery and porcelain. This fall, the museum is featuring a special exhibit of "ko-imari" (ancient enameled porcelain) of the Edo period.

In addition to our private view of the exhibit, Mr. Shinroku Morohashi, a legendary former president of the Mitsubishi Corporation and chairman of the Seikado Foundation, will brief the group on the recent history of the museum.

This special tour is being conducted by courtesy of Mitsubishi Corporation.

Reservations are on a first come, first served basis and the group is limited to 20 persons. Registration is limited to two tickets per member.

Lunch costs is 2,700 yen per person. Cancellation after 12 noon on Wednesday, November 5 will be charged in full. Please sign up at the Front Desk (3211-3161).
