The Assembled Governors for the Return of Victims of Abduction by North Korea

Time: 2009 Jan 13 12:00 - 14:00
Summary:

Professional Luncheon:
Shintaro Ishihara, Hirohiko Izumida, Shinji Hirai, Masaaki Osawa & Kiyoshi Ueda;
The Assembled Governors for the Return of Victims of Abduction by North Korea

Language:

The speech and Q & A will be in English and Japanese with simultaneous English interpretation.

Description:

*Reservations are limited to two per member, and may be subject to further change.

The recent round of six-party talks on North Korea ended without the progress that the departing Bush administration was likely looking for and also saw no sign of resolving Japan's most pressing concern: the abduction over the years of its nationals by North Korean agents.

In order to facilitate the resolution of the abduction issue, over forty prefectural governors around Japan have come together to form the Assembled Governors for the Return of Victims of Abduction by North Korea.

A group of five governors, including Tokyo Governor Shintaro Ishihara, the Chair of the newly formed organization, will come to the FCCJ to announce the establishment of their organization. They will also read out a letter which is going to be sent to U.S. President-elect Obama in order to ask for his understanding and support for Japan's position.

Governor Ishihara will be joined by Governor Hirohiko Izumida of Niigata, who is also Acting Chair, along with Governor Kiyoshi Ueda of Saitama, Governor Masaaki Osawa of Gunma, and Governor Shinji Hirai of Tottori.

Sandwich Plate: Toasted Ham, Chicken, Swiss Cheese Tomato & Basil on Campagne with Green Salad.
Hot Plate: Pan Seared Cajun Sea Bream, Sweet Corn Fried Rice, Sauteed Broccoli & Roast Bell Pepper with Coriander Salsa & Green Salad.

Please reserve in advance to help us plan properly (still & TV cameras inclusive). The charge for members/guests is 1,350/2,300 yen for the sandwich plate and 1,700/2,600 yen for the hot plate. Cancellations will be accepted up to 24 hours prior to the event for Associate members and guests, and one hour prior for working press members (by telephone only on the day of the event).
